Cheap Guns – Rather than Criminals – Blamed for Officer’s Murder
Sadly, A police officer, Stephen Liczbinski, was killed by a criminal in Philadelphia. The criminal used an inexpensive “junk gun” SKS rifle, which anti-gun groups incorrectly refer to as an “assault weapon“. This case, while tragic, is also rare. What is also sad is the way the anti-gun groups are using this tragedy to incorrectly argue that the 2nd amendment only supports hunting rifles, or that criminals willing to commit murder would obey a gun ban. Instead, they are scapegoating and vilifying rifles that happen to have “scary” cosmetic features.
Instead, these politicians and anti-gun rights groups should focus on enforcing the existing laws against murder, and addressing the real causes of crime.
